Tamara Jensen is an artist from Ottawa, Canada, who finds escape from her job with the federal prison system by painting bright, whimsical abstract and figurative pieces. Tamara enjoys working with different styles of painting simultaneously, and frequently combines abstract techniques with more figurative subject matter to portray recognizable pop images in new and visually interesting ways. Her work has been shown at local La Petite Mort Gallery, where thus far it has been well-received by gallery patrons.
"Classic toys, video games, and other childhood characters are brought to life in large scale acrylic and mixed media paintings. While nostalgic in their subject matter, these works have a contemporary sensibility achieved through their emphasis on design and composition. Often amusing, if not facetious, these images play on our memories of familiar objects and characters from a simpler time, bringing them out of context and blurring the line between design, illustration, story telling, and art." - La Petite Mort Gallery
